Emergency Physician Services of Wood County, Inc. was founded in January of 2002 and assumed its first contract at Wood County Hospital in May of that same year. Emergency Physician Services of Wood County was created as a democratic physician-owned and managed organization with the belief that ownership would ensure pride in our product and personal accountability for success. From 2002 to 2006, we focused on perfecting services provided at Wood County Hospital and creating a foundation for future expansion.

In February of 2006 with expansion in mind, our name changed to Emergency Care Services, Inc. The company was ready for expansion in late 2006 and assumed the Mercy Hospital of Defiance emergency department contract in October of that year. We continue to look for supportive hospital systems who are interested in partnering with the goal of quality patient care focusing on patient satisfaction.
